The People’s Bank of China is to issue a series of 2015 Chinese Bingshen Year (Year of the Monkey) gold and silver commemorative coins on October 16th 2015. The program consists of 17 coins, with 10 in gold and 7 in silver, all of which are the legal tender of the People’s Republic of China.

I. Designs of the Coins

i. Obverse Design

The common obverse of the gold and silver commemorative coins features the national emblem of the People’s Republic of China, auspicious design of lotus and fish symbolizing a surplus year after year，the title of PRC and the year date.

ii. Reverse Design

1. The following 13 coins bear the common reverse of an image of a lifelike monkey in the foreground and a decorative design of the monkey as the background, the face value and the words “Bingshen” in Chinese.

3.11g (1/10oz) round gold coin, 15.552g (1/2oz) plum-blossom shaped gold coin, 10.368g (1/3oz) fan-shaped gold coin, 155.52g (5oz) rectangular gold coin, 500g round gold coin, 1kg plum-blossom shaped gold coin, 2kg round gold coin, 10kg round gold coin, 31.104g (1oz) round silver coin, 31.104g (1oz) plum-blossom shaped silver coin, 31.104g (1oz) fan-shaped silver coin, 155.52g (5oz) rectangular silver coin and 1kg round silver coin.

2. The following 4 coins bear the common reverse of the folk traditional design of a monkey in the foreground (selective color) and auspicious flower design as the background, the face value and the words of “Bingshen” in Chinese:

3.11g (1/10) oz round gold coin (selective color), 155.52g (5oz) round gold coin (selective color), 31.104g (1oz) round silver coin (selective color) and 155.52g (5oz) round silver coin (selective color).

II. Specifications and Mintage of the Coins

i. 3.11g (1/10oz) round gold coin is proof in quality, 18mm in diameter, 50 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness and contains 1/10 troy ounce of pure gold. The total mintage is 120,000 pieces.

ii. 31.101g (1oz) round silver coin is proof in quality, 40mm in diameter, 10 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness, and contains 1 troy ounce of pure silver. The total mintage is 200,000 pieces.

iii. 3.11g (1/10oz) round gold coin (selective color) is proof in quality, 18mm in diameter, 50 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness, and contains 1/10 troy ounce of pure gold. The total mintage is 120,000 pieces.

iv. 31.104g (1oz) round silver coin (selective color) is proof in quality, 40mm in diameter, 10 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness, and contains 1 troy ounce of pure silver. The total mintage is 220,000 pieces.

v. 10.368g (1/3oz) fan-shaped gold coin is proof in quality, 51mm in excircle radius, 36mm in incircle radius, 30 degrees in central angle, 150 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness, and contains 1/3troy ounce of pure gold. The total mintage is 30,000 pieces.

vi. 31.104g (1oz) fan-shaped silver coin is proof in quality, 85mm in excircle radius, 60mm in incircle radius, 30 degrees in central angle, 10 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness, and contains 1 troy ounce of pure silver. The total mintage is 80,000 pieces.

vii. 15.552g (1/2oz) plum-blossom shaped gold coin is proof in quality, 27mm in diameter of circumcircle, 200 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness, and contains 1/2 troy ounce of pure gold. The total mintage is 8,000 pieces.

viii. 31.104g (1oz) plum-blossom shaped silver coin is proof in quality, 40mm in diameter of circumcircle, 10 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness, and contains 1 troy ounce of pure silver. The total mintage is 60,000 pieces.

ix. 155.52g (5oz) rectangular gold coin is proof in quality, 64mm×40mm in dimension, 2000 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness, and contains 5 troy ounces of pure gold. The total mintage is 2000 pieces.

x. 155.52g (5oz) rectangular silver coin is proof in quality, 80mm×50mm in dimension, 50 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness, and contains 5 troy ounces of pure silver. The total mintage is 20,000 pieces.

xi. 155.52g (5oz) round gold coin (selectively colored) is proof in quality, 60mm in diameter, 2000 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness, and contains 5 troy ounces of pure gold. The total mintage is 3000 pieces.

xii. 155.52g (5oz) round silver coin (selectively colored) is proof in quality, 70mm in diameter, 50 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness, and contains 5 troy ounces of pure gold. The total mintage is 30,000 pieces.

Xiii. 500g round gold coin is proof in quality, 80mm in diameter, 50000 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness and contains 500g of pure gold. The total mintage is 2000 pieces.

xiv. 1kg plum-blossom shaped gold coin is proof in quality, 100mm in diameter of circumcircle,10000 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness, and contains 1kg of pure gold. The total mintage is 118 pieces.

xv. 1kg round silver coin is proof in quality, 100mm in diameter, 300 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness, and contains 1kg of pure silver. The total mintage is 10000 pieces.

xvi. 2kg round gold coin is proof in quality, 110mm in diameter, 20000 yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness, and contains 2kg of pure silver. The total mintage is 100pieces.

xvii. 10kg round gold coin is proof in quality, 180mm in diameter, 100000 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness and contains 10kg of pure gold. The total mintage is 18 pieces.

III. The program of gold and silver commemorative coins are respectively minted by Shenzhen Guobao Mint Co., Ltd, Shenyang Mint Co., Ltd and Shanghai Mint Co., Ltd, and solely distributed by China Gold Coin Incorporation.
