The 150th anniversary of Jiangnan Shipyard gold and silver commemorative coins are to be issued

The People’s Bank of China is to issue a set of panda gold and silver commemorative coins for the 150th anniversary of Jiangnan Shipyard on June 3rd 2015. The set of coin consists of three coins, including two gold coins and a silver coin, all of which are the legal tender of the People’s Republic of China.


I. Design of the coins


i. Obverse design


The gold and silver commemorative coins bear the common obverse of the National Emblem of the People’s Republic of China, the title of P.R.C. and the year date.

ii. Reverse design


The reverse of the 7.776g (1/4oz) gold coin features a vessel formed by the number “150”, the designs of doves, ribbons and balloons, and the words “The 150th Anniversary of Jiangnan Shipyard” in Chinese and the face value.


The reverse of 31.104g (1oz) silver coin (i) features the shipyard and gantry cranes at Jiangnan Changxing Shipbuilding Base, the designs of vessels, Lupu Bridge and the propeller, the words “The 150th anniversary of Jiangnan Shipyard” in Chinese and the face value.

  The reverse of 31.104g (1oz) silver coin (ii) features the main gate to Jiangnan Machine Works, the designs of the first warship and the first cannon, the words “The 150th Anniversary of Jiangnan Shipyard” in Chinese and the face value.


II. Specifications and mintage of the coins


The 7.776g (1/4oz)gold coin is proof in quality, 22mm in diameter, 100 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness and contains 7.776 grams (1/4 troy ounce) of pure gold. The total mintage is 8000 pieces


The 31.104g (1oz) silver coin is proof in quality, 40mm in diameter, 10 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness and contains 31.104 gram (1 troy ounce) of pure silver. The total mintage is 40000 pieces.


III. This set of gold and silver commemorative coins are minted by Shenzhen Guobao Mint Co., Ltd and Shanghai Mint Co., Ltd, and  solely distributed by China Gold Coin Incorporation.
