The People’s Bank of China is to issue a set of gold and silver commemorative coins for the 80th anniversary of the Victory of Long March of the Chinese Red Army on September 26th 2016. The set of coin consists of a gold coin and a silver coin, both of which are the legal tender of the People’s Republic of China.

I. Design of the coins

i. Obverse design

The gold and silver commemorative coins bear the common obverse of the National Emblem of the People’s Republic of China, the title of P.R.C. and the year date.

ii. Reverse design

The reverse of the 8g gold coin features the Zunyi Meeting Site, the red ribbon forming the shape of number 80 against a view of the snowy mountains, the words “The 80th Anniversary of the Victory of Long March of the Chinese Red Army, 1936-2016” in Chinese and the face value.

The reverse of the 30g silver coin features the typical scene of the Red Army’s crossing snowy mountains and grassland, the words “The 80th Anniversary of the Victory of Long March of the Chinese Red Army, 1936-2016” in Chinese and the face value.

II. Specifications and mintage of the coins

The 8g gold coin is proof in quality, 22mm in diameter, 100 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness and contains 8 grams of pure gold. The total mintage is 10000 pieces

The 30g silver coin is proof in quality, 40mm in diameter, 10 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness and contains 30 grams of pure silver. The total mintage is 20000 pieces.
